Tasmania's Junior Public Speaking Competition (JPSC)
UN Youth Tasmania is proud to run the Junior Public Speaking Competition (JPSC). This competition allows students in years 7-10 to engage with issues relating to the world around them. The 2012 competition will be held later in this year! Check back here regularly for more details, or subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to know!
Students are invited to present a speech, which relates to an issue of international relations. However, this is not intended to be limiting and in the past students have engaged with a range of issues about different countries and the way they interact. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to learn more about the world, as well as to present their views to their peers.
All contestants will deliver both a prepared and an impromptu speech. The prepared speeches for both divisions will be of 3-5 minute duration. The themes of these speeches should relate broadly to International Relations.
These speeches do not have to relate to International Relations, though they must be on whichever of the topics the students choose out of those given to them at the beginning of the 5 minutes.
In previous years topics have included

- A Green Globe
- War and Peace
- Our Biggest Failure
- Breaking Down the Barriers
- Sending the Message
- Nations United?
- A Fighting Chance
- Trial and Error
- The New Frontier
- Hit and Miss
